1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how buildvsbuy.ai (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, dashboard, and Chrome extension. By using the service you agree to this policy. For product rules, see our Terms and Conditions.

2. Information we collect

• Account data — email, display name, avatar, and authentication details (including Google sign-in identifiers when you choose that method).
• Usage signals from the Chrome extension — the extension reads the active tab URL only to identify the current website/SaaS application and measure focused usage. It then discards the raw URL. We store registrable domain, focused active minutes, session counts, and (for known apps) an optional coarse feature id or coarse path. Query strings, fragments, and full URLs are not stored or uploaded.
• By default the extension tracks only supported/known SaaS applications. You may optionally enable discovery mode in Dashboard → Privacy so we can detect additional SaaS domains (domain + focused time only). You can pause or disconnect at any time.
• Spend you confirm — subscription plan names, prices, and seats you enter.
• Unsent usage events are stored locally in the extension until they sync to buildvsbuy.ai. Disconnecting clears the local queue and device token.
• Technical data — IP address, browser/device info, and session cookies needed for security and reliability.

3. What we do not collect

• Passwords, cookies, tokens, keystrokes, form values, or payment card data from visited sites
• Page HTML, page text, page titles, private messages, clipboard contents, screenshots, or file contents
• Browser history APIs, other-site cookies, or injected scripts
• Full URLs, query strings, URL fragments, OAuth/SSO parameters, or authentication tokens in URLs
• Usage from other browsers, mobile apps, or desktop apps outside the paired Chrome profile

4. How we use information

• Provide KEEP / DOWNGRADE / AUTOMATE recommendations for your Chrome SaaS stack
• Authenticate users, manage extension pairing, and prevent abuse
• Improve detectors and the shared public SaaS catalog (including domains you optionally allow us to discover)
• Communicate about account security and product changes when needed

5. Public SaaS catalog

We may fetch public marketing pages (homepage, pricing) via server-side tools to build a shared catalog. We do not scrape your logged-in app sessions.

6. Sharing

We use infrastructure providers (for example hosting, database, and authentication) to operate the product. We do not sell your personal usage data. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the service and users.

7. Retention & deletion

Raw events expire on a short TTL. Aggregates last longer. You can export or delete activity and delete your account from Privacy settings. Global catalog rows are shared knowledge and are not deleted with your account.

8. Your choices

• Pause monitoring or disconnect the extension from the dashboard or popup
• Keep tracking limited to known apps, or opt in to domain discovery
• Exclude domains you do not want tracked
• Update your display name and avatar in Settings
